As we age, we face many physical, emotional, and social challenges.
In addition to gray hair and wrinkles, there are countless health problems... Our steps are no longer as quick, and the stories we have told so many times are lost for lack of listeners!
Unfortunately, many elderly people suffer different forms of violence, and most of the time, they do not recognize it as such, since the abuse takes place within the home or family and is disguised as a lack of patience and time, being repeatedly endured by the elderly.
These actions further damage physical and emotional health, in addition to violating the fundamental rights of the elderly.
Out of fear, shame, or dependence on the abuser, victims often do not report the violence they suffer. Therefore, it is essential that society as a whole be attentive and ready to act by reporting abuse, but above all, by welcoming those who are the guardians of our history with love, empathy, and respect, so that this violence does not continue.

The Laudato Si Social Center, created two years ago, is a space where older people can interact freely, creating bonds that promote physical and emotional health.

During the workshops, many testimonials arise spontaneously as a way of sharing their life stories, and some people do not even realize that their stories fit into some type of violence. In such cases, everyone is welcomed with great affection and respect, and if necessary, they are advised to seek specialized help.
And to celebrate the month dedicated to such an important cause, several activities were specially held at CSLS as a way to raise awareness about the importance of caring for, respecting, and protecting the elderly.
Let's work together to make Violet June a time of awareness, respect, and protection that lasts all year long!
And since June is also a month of joy, when seniors do what they love most, which is dancing and having fun, let's make that joy a constant presence and ensure that their lives are always... a big party! Because caring for and protecting the elderly is the responsibility of us all!
