One opportunity can change many lives…
Every story of transformation starts somewhere. Sometimes it starts with an idea. Sometimes with a dream. And often with someone willing to believe that it’s possible to do things differently. That’s how the story of Instituto Anelo began.
From this initiative, the Anelo Band was born. And on May 10, 2000, the Anelo Institute officially began its activities, offering free music lessons taught by volunteer teachers.
Today, 26 years later, more than 15,000 people have benefited from Anelo’s projects. Children, teenagers, young adults, and adults who found in music much more than just the opportunity to learn to play an instrument—they found a space to discover talents, develop skills, socialize, build connections, and see new paths ahead.
And some of these stories demonstrate, in a very tangible way, just how far an opportunity can take someone.
One opportunity led to another, and that story that began within Anelo continued to take the world by storm.
The most interesting thing about this journey is that it doesn’t end when a student becomes a professional. On the contrary, the knowledge acquired returns to the place where it all began and becomes part of other people’s stories.
Rômulo continues to teach at Anelo, helping to train new musicians. This is how an opportunity can multiply: One person learns. Then they teach. Another person learns. And a new possibility begins.
Over the years, the music produced and taught at Jardim Florence has reached different parts of Brazil and other countries as well, carrying with it students, teachers, musicians, and stories forged within the institution.
With Rômulo, in 2026, one of those stories came home. During Anelo’s 26th-anniversary celebrations, the Institute welcomed Dudu Nobre for a special performance.
This time, Rômulo wasn’t just on stage as a guest musician. He was part of the story that made that musical encounter possible. The boy who, years earlier, arrived at Anelo as a student, helped pave the way that connected that community to a giant of Brazilian music.
That’s why talking about social projects isn’t just about numbers. Behind every student, there are dreams, talents, choices, and possibilities.
A class can awaken a talent. A teacher can encourage a choice.
A project can open a door. And once that door is open, it can take someone much farther than we can imagine.
Rômulo’s journey is one such story. But it’s not the only one. It’s one among thousands that began when someone gained access to an opportunity. Social transformation also happens when someone has the chance to discover what they’re capable of doing.
And when an opportunity finds someone willing to seize it, it can become more than just an opportunity—it can turn into a career, independence, a sense of belonging, and inspiration. And, above all, it can pave the way for many other stories.
