Empowering inclusion: - The power to unlock human potential.

Over the years, society’s view of people with Down syndrome and ASD has undergone significant changes. We have made progress in recognizing their rights, expanded opportunities for inclusion, and, most importantly, begun to value each individual for their abilities and potential, rather than their limitations.

We are seeing more and more people with Down syndrome and ASD taking on roles that were once denied to them: in the arts, in the workplace, in education, and in community life. Challenges remain, but these advances show that when there is opportunity, support, and respect, development happens.

It is in this context that stories like those of Ian Pereira and Lídia de Castro gain even greater strength and meaning. Part of their stories involves the Parsifal Association, where the protagonists developed their skills and found a welcoming space for encouragement and growth.

Institutions like Parsifal play a fundamental role in recognizing and enhancing the capabilities of people with intellectual developmental disabilities, offering not just activities, but real paths to inclusion and empowerment.

Social projects and people willing to dedicate their time, talent, and knowledge exist, and they do extraordinary work. When this effort finds support from society, new opportunities open up, dreams gain strength, and more stories like Ian’s and Lídia’s can flourish.

Valuing differences means understanding that each person has their own pace, their own abilities, and their own unique way of expressing themselves. When society offers opportunities, the results are surprising and moving.

That is why, for ABMTHS, supporting social projects like those of the Parsifal Association is more than a gesture of solidarity: - It is an investment in a more inclusive future, where stories like Ian and Lídia’s cease to be the exception and become a natural part of our reality.
