EDS conducts a new expedition in the Amazon

❤️‍🩹 The indigenous people of the Upper Solimões River welcomed a multidisciplinary health team to provide clinical and surgical care in various medical specialties, such as pediatrics, gynecology, and ophthalmology. 👓

This is the 56th EDS Expedition. The journey began in Campinas, continued through Manaus and Tabatinga, and finally arrived by boat at the community of Belém do Solimões. Doctors, nurses, and volunteers make the difficult logistics of an expedition like this possible! 👩🏼‍⚕️

While patients are treated by EDS health teams in Belém do Solimões, a mobile team travels through various communities in the Upper Solimões River region in search of indigenous people who need care - especially surgery. 🩺

A Mobile Surgical Center was set up in the heart of the Amazon so that the “guardians of the forest” have access to the specialized healthcare and dignity they deserve. 🙏🏻🌳
