Instituto Anelo had its origins in 1996 in the Jardim Florence I neighborhood, when Luccas Soares, a teenager living in one of the alleys on Rua Carlos Roberto Pereira, formerly 149, fell in love with music and decided that he would make it his life, even without having idea of the paths it would take him. The son of separated parents, since childhood Luccas worked as a street vendor and performed informal services to help his mother support the house. He then invested all his savings in buying a keyboard, becoming the first musician in the family. And, in 1997, together with friends, he formed the Banda Anelo, the embryo of what is now the Instituto.​

Anelo, which means inspiration, desire, will, was the name chosen for the Institute formally founded in 2000 no Bairro Jardim Florence I, in Campinas (SP). Over these 17 years, 3,500 students have passed through Instituto Anelo, many of whom are now professors and professional musicians.
