Recentemente, a equipe médica EDS partiu para o norte do país e, em mais uma missão especial, com a complexa viagem aérea e fluvial, chegou ao destino final: Pari-Cachoeira, comunidade situada na conhecida Cabeça-do-Cachorro. É lá que será instalado o Hospital de Fronteira EDS - o piloto de um ambicioso projeto de montar e equipar pequenos hospitais permanentes, descentralizados, na Amazônia, para oferecer atendimento especializado, acompanhamento médico à distância e pequenas cirurgias aos povos indígenas que vivem distantes das grandes cidades.
As obras, cuja iniciativa tem o fundamental suporte de Nia Tero, Avaaz e Diocese de São Gabriel da Cachoeira, já começaram e a estrutura deverá ser entregue em julho deste ano, quando iniciaremos as expedições médicas em parceria com o sistema de saúde indígena que atua na região.
Além disso, a equipe EDS também participou da entrega da Usina de Oxigênio à população de São Gabriel da Cachoeira (AM), importante polo de atração e conhecida como a cidade mais indígena do Brasil. Trata-se de um movimento da sociedade civil cuja união visa reforçar as políticas públicas de saúde.
EDS frontier hospital reform
Recently, the EDS medical team left for the north of the country and, in yet another special mission, with the complex air and river journey, reached the final destination: Pari-Cachoeira, a community located in the well-known Cabeça-do-Cachorro. It is there that the EDS Frontier Hospital will be installed - the pilot of an ambitious project to set up and equip small permanent, decentralized hospitals in the Amazon, to offer specialized care, remote medical care and minor surgeries to indigenous peoples who live far from large cities.
The works, whose initiative has the fundamental support of Nia Tero, Avaaz and the Diocese of São Gabriel da Cachoeira, have already started and the structure should be delivered in July this year, when we will start medical expeditions in partnership with the indigenous health system that operates in the region.
In addition, the EDS team also participated in the delivery of the Oxygen Plant to the population of São Gabriel da Cachoeira (AM), an important attraction center and known as the most indigenous city in Brazil. It is a civil society movement whose union aims to strengthen public health policies.
