A Orquestra Anelo, maior grupo instrumental ligado ao Instituto Anelo, uma associação sem fins lucrativos que oferece aulas gratuitas de música no distrito do Campo Grande, em Campinas (SP), lançou o vídeo com a música “Todas Direções”, que tem a participação especial do aclamado gaitista Gabriel Grossi, considerado um dos melhores harmonicistas do Brasil.
“Todas Direções” é uma composição de Gabriel Grossi em parceria com Guilherme Ribeiro, regente da Orquestra Anelo. Gravado remotamente, o vídeo traz um novo arranjo de Ribeiro para a música, que originalmente faz parte do disco “Urbano”, lançado por Grossi em 2013.
A edição de imagens é de Julia Mazzotti Toledo, pianista e produtora da Orquestra Anelo, e a mixagem de som é de Vinadhara Wassuprem, guitarrista, violonista, arranjador, compositor e técnico de som que faz parte do grupo Ungambikkula.
BIOGRAFIA
Com uma bem-sucedida carreira solo dentro e fora do país, o gaitista Gabriel Grossi foi integrante do Hamilton de Holanda Quinteto, conjunto vencedor do Prêmio da Música Brasileira em 2007 e finalista do Grammy Latino por três vezes consecutivas.
Tem 12 discos próprios, além de gravações e shows ao lado nomes de destaque da música nacional e internacional, tais como Hermeto Pascoal, Chico Buarque, Milton Nascimento, Wynton Marsalis, Djavan, Ivan Lins, Lenine, Dominguinhos e Dave Matthews, entre outros.
Sobre ele, o grande multi-instrumentista brasileiro Hermeto Pascoal declarou: “Gabrielzinho é o melhor do mundo tocando seu instrumento. Ele toca a verdadeira música universal”.
Já o gaitista belga Toots Thielemans (1922-2016), uma das grandes referências mundiais do instrumento, chegou a declarar que “Gabriel é um gaitista que toca com enorme facilidade, um músico de grande explosão. Também fiquei admirado com suas composições e com seu domínio da linguagem brasileira”.
Sobre o lançamento do vídeo, Gabriel Grossi diz que foi uma alegria participar da gravação de “Todas Direções” com a Orquestra Anelo. “Que projeto incrível, fiquei emocionado”, disse ele, ressaltando, também, a alegria de estar novamente ao lado do parceiro Guilherme Ribeiro.
HISTÓRIA DA PARCERIA
Guilherme Ribeiro conta que conheceu Gabriel Grossi por meio de um amigo em comum, o guitarrista e violonista Daniel Santiago. Inclusive, lembra o regente, os dois estiveram no Anelo no início dos anos 2000, época em que Guilherme estudava na Universidade Estadual de Campinas (Unicamp) - na época, os três costumavam tocar juntos.
“Os anos se passaram e o Gabriel me convidou para gravar um disco com ele. Ele montou um trio e nós gravamos um disco chamado ‘Horizonte’ (lançado em 2009), no qual eu toco teclado, faço baixo e tem o Serginho Machado na bateria”, conta Ribeiro, lembrando que “Horizonte” foi gravado em Petrópolis, no Rio de Janeiro, com a participação do gaitista Maurício Einhorn, do trombonista Raul de Souza e do saudoso clarinetista e maestro Paulo Moura (1932-2010), com que Gabriel colaborou por muitos anos .
Esse trio, segundo Guilherme, continuou durante um bom tempo, tendo participado de festivais e shows em São Paulo, Rio de Janeiro e Brasília. “Chegou o momento em que o Gabriel quis gravar outro disco. O trio virou sexteto e gravou o ‘Urbano’. Eu participei mais como compositor, arranjador e produtor.”
De acordo com Ribeiro, esse grupo também tocou junto por um tempo. “Mas, como Gabriel é um músico muito requisitado, com uma produção gigantesca, acabamos nos afastando”, contou ele, que viu na oportunidade de regravar “Todas Direções” uma forma de reencontrar o antigo parceiro.
“Gosto muito dessa música e a toquei muito pouco. Tem um groove afro que resolvi trazer para a Orquestra Anelo porque compõe muito bem com a paleta de sons do repertório do grupo”, afirmou o regente, para quem o novo arranjo acabou por amplificar a música.
“O arranjo está mais grandioso do que a versão original. Não só por causa da instrumentação, porque é um grupo muito menor do que a Orquestra, mas pelo aspecto da própria construção do arranjo, que ganhou um porte imponente e que ficou muito interessante para o repertório da Orquestra”, explicou.
Além de Gabriel Grossi, Ribeiro destaca a participação importante, na gravação de “Todas Direções”, do percussionista Leo Pelegrin, professor de bateria e percussão do Instituto Anelo que chegou a fazer parte da Orquestra Anelo.
A ORQUESTRA ANELO
Iniciada em 2018, a Orquestra Anelo é o maior grupo instrumental ligado ao Instituto Anelo. É dedicada à formação de repertório arranjado, tendo a música brasileira e o jazz americano como referências estéticas. Atualmente, a Orquestra Anelo conta com 20 integrantes entre professores e colaboradores do Instituto Anelo.
Sua formação deriva de uma tradicional big band de jazz, com instrumentos da seção rítmica - piano, guitarra, baixo e bateria - e da seção de sopros - saxofones, trompetes e trombones. Mas também incorpora instrumentos característicos da música brasileira tais como o acordeon, o cavaquinho, a percussão e a flauta transversal.

Anelo Orchestra launches video with the participation of Gabriel Grossi, one of the best harmonica players in Brazil
The Anelo Orchestra, the largest instrumental group linked to the Anelo Institute, a non-profit association that offers free music lessons in the Campo Grande district, in Campinas (SP), launched the video with the song “Todas Directions”, which has the participation special of the acclaimed harmonica player Gabriel Grossi, considered one of the best harmonic players in Brazil.
"Todas Directions" is a composition by Gabriel Grossi in partnership with Guilherme Ribeiro, conductor of the Anelo Orchestra. Remotely recorded, the video features a new arrangement by Ribeiro for the song, which originally forms part of the album “Urbano”, released by Grossi in 2013.

With a successful solo career in and out of the country, the harmonica player Gabriel Grossi was a member of the Hamilton de Holanda Quinteto, the winning group of the Brazilian Music Award in 2007 and a finalist of the Latin Grammy for three consecutive times.
It has 12 albums of its own, in addition to recordings and shows alongside prominent names of national and international music, such as Hermeto Pascoal, Chico Buarque, Milton Nascimento, Wynton Marsalis, Djavan, Ivan Lins, Lenine, Dominguinhos and Dave Matthews, among others.
About him, the great Brazilian multi-instrumentalist Hermeto Pascoal declared: “Gabrielzinho is the best in the world playing his instrument. He plays true universal music ”.
The Belgian harmonica player Toots Thielemans (1922-2016), one of the great world references of the instrument, went so far as to declare that “Gabriel is a harmonica player who plays with great ease, a musician of great explosion. PARTNERSHIP HISTORY
Guilherme Ribeiro says that he met Gabriel Grossi through a mutual friend, guitarist and guitarist Daniel Santiago. Even, remembers the conductor, the two were at Anelo in the early 2000s, when Guilherme was studying at the State University of Campinas (Unicamp) - at the time, the three used to play together.
“The years passed and Gabriel invited me to record an album with him. He put together a trio and we recorded an album called 'Horizonte' (released in 2009), in which I play the keyboard, play the bass and have Serginho Machado on the drums, ”says Ribeiro, recalling that“ Horizonte ”was recorded in Petrópolis, in Rio de Janeiro, with the participation of the harmonica player Maurício Einhorn, the trombonist Raul de Souza and the late clarinetist and conductor Paulo Moura (1932-2010), with whom Gabriel collaborated for many years.

“I really like this song and played it very little. It has an afro groove that I decided to bring to the Anelo Orchestra because it composes very well with the sound palette of the group's repertoire ”, said the conductor, for whom the new arrangement ended up amplifying the music.
“The arrangement is grander than the original version. Not only because of the instrumentation, because it is a much smaller group than the Orchestra, but because of the aspect of the arrangement's construction itself, which gained an imposing size and became very interesting for the Orchestra's repertoire ”, he explained.
In addition to Gabriel Grossi, Ribeiro highlights the important participation, in the recording of “Todas Directions”, by percussionist Leo Pelegrin, drums and percussion teacher at Instituto Anelo who became part of the Anelo Orchestra.
THE ANELO ORCHESTRA
Started in 2018, Orquestra Anelo is the largest instrumental group linked to Instituto Anelo. It is dedicated to the formation of an arranged repertoire, with Brazilian music and American jazz as aesthetic references. Currently, the Orquestra Anelo has 20 members, including professors and employees of Instituto Anelo.
His background derives from a traditional jazz big band, with instruments from the rhythm section - piano, guitar, bass and drums - and from the wind section - saxophones, trumpets and trombones. But it also incorporates instruments characteristic of Brazilian music such as the accordion, the cavaquinho, percussion and the transverse flute.
